At Southern California Cardiac Electrophysiology we strive to deliver personalized, friendly, state-of-the-art cardiac care and heart rhythm management. We specialize in evaluation of arrhythmia’s (irregular heart beat), palpitations, syncope (passing out), presyncope (near passing out), congestive heart failure, and medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
In addition we offer full cardiac evaluations including stress testing, cardiac imaging, vascular imaging, and laboratory services. We also specialize in implantation of medical devices as well as performing cardiac ablations (radiofrequency cauterization) to correct irregular heartbeats.
Fellow of the American college of a cardiology (FACC)
A bit about my background… I am originally from New York but grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. I took my undergraduate education at UCLA with a College Honors major in general biology. I later attended Georgetown University where I earned my Master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics. I returned to California and completed my medical school training at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.
While as a medical student I spent time at clinical training sites such as The Cleveland Clinic, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, Broward County Hospital (Ft. Lauderdale), and St. Barnabas Hospital (Bronx). As a medical student, I was Chair of the student research program and participated in many research projects and regional scientific conferences. I was also the President of the International Medical Student Association and spent a summer on clinical rotation in cardiology in Santander, Spain.
When I completed medical school I completed my internship in Internal Medicine at the UCLA/Wadsworth VA program followed by my completion of Internal Medicine Residency at UCLA/Wadsworth as well. I subsequently completed my Cardiology Fellowship at the UCLA VA/Olive View program and went on to complete my Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
I was recruited after my training at Cedars to come to Bakersfield to provide Electrophysiology services to Kern County. I have been in 2 group practices in Bakersfield prior to opening my own solo practice. In the 5 years I have been in Bakersfield we have grown the cardiac electrophysiology services at our local EP labs including expanding our ability to perform complex ablations.
I am currently the Chief of the division of Cardiology at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and sit on the local board of the American Heart Association. I have fought and succeeded to bring external defibrillators as a life-saving tool to the entire Kern High School District and hope to someday see them in all schools in Kern County.
I am Board Certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Nuclear Cardiology.
I am an avid fisherman, car enthusiast, and a big fan of my Alma Mater’s football team (UCLA) attending games at the Rose Bowl on a regular basis.
I look forward to meeting you and providing excellence in cardiac and electrophysiology care to meet your individual needs.
